Two people were killed in a Russian robot attack on Odessa, local authorities said.

In Donetsk, fighting is intensifying around the strategically located city of Pokrovsk.

A couple lost their lives when a Russian robot crashed in a suburb of the Black Sea city of Odessa on Sunday evening, according to Olesya Kiper, the regional governor of Odessa.

Earlier, Ukrainian air defenses reportedly shot down a Russian robot and ten drones overnight. According to Ukrainian news outlet Ukrinform, Russia shot down a total of three robots and 14 Iranian-made Shahed drones.

“The invaders attacked the Odessa region with two Iskander ballistic robots launched from the occupied Crimea,” the air defense wrote on Telegram.

The third robot, the Ch-59 attack robot, was reportedly launched from Russian-occupied territory in the Zaporizhia region.

Russia, for its part, claims to have shot down about 30 Ukrainian drones overnight and morning, the Associated Press reported.

Meanwhile, clashes continue around the hotly contested city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian authorities said on Sunday that a civilian had been killed in Russian shelling of the western part of the city.

Since August, more than 20,000 people have fled Pokrovsk as Russian forces closed in. The city is described as strategically located, at the intersection of major roads and railways that feed Ukrainian forces in the east.
