Meteor showers in a month: check when and how you can see them

The nights of July and August will be full of lights in the sky. During both months, there will be active meteor showers: Delta Aquarids and the Perseids.

these meteorites They are clumps of interplanetary material that enter our atmosphere at high speeds, becoming dizzying clumps of fire. Depending on its size, the material will melt or cross the planet’s sky, leaving a trail of light.

The light emitted by falling stars comes from radiation emitted by the evaporation of ionized gas.

From Earth, you can see 9 meteor showers every year. These comets cross the planet’s sky every year, because they are the result of matter left by some comets that travel through our solar system.

Delta Aquarids

Last July 12, the meteor shower called the Delta Aquarids began to appear. It is known as one of the timidest meteors, since not many meteors appear per hour, and it is not the brightest.

The rocks come from the comet 96p-Machholz, which moves every 5 years around the sun and is seen in our sky from the constellation Aquarius, the same constellation that gives the event its name.

The meteor shower will remain active until August 23, and this year the peak will occur between the nights of July 28 and July 31.

Perseids

In August every year, this meteor is visible. It is one of the most important meteorites for meteor hunters due to the large number of meteors that enter our atmosphere every hour.

It will be active between July 17 and August 24, but the peak of meteor activity will be during the early hours between August 11 and 13.
