Actor Dominic Batorrell, best known for being the voice of JR on “Dallas”, has died at the age of 90 due to prolonged health problems.

TV – The little one didn’t necessarily know his face, but his voice was legendary. Actor Dominique Patourel, the French voice for JR Ewing on the ’80s series “Dallas,” has died at the age of 90, his family announced Tuesday, March 1.

“My uncle died on Monday evening in the hospital in Saint-Brieuc, on the Côte d’Armor. He had been suffering from diabetes for some time and had to be amputated. His nephew Loic Batorel told AFP that his general condition had recently deteriorated.”

The funeral will take place on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Bordech, which is still on the Cote d’Armor, “the family’s cradle, where he will be buried,” his nephew continued.

Theatre, film and television…

“He was one of the last to play under Jean Villard (famous director, founder of the Avignon Festival). He had nearly 80 plays for his account and about thirty films. He was part of this generation that knew how to do everything”, adds Loïc Paturel.

But his uncle is best known to the general public for his dubbing JR, an unscrupulous character, who has become a cult, from the American series “Dallas”. “I had a huge opportunity. Perhaps, thanks to the dubbing, I had this choice to be able to accept or reject theater or television projects that did not suit me,” he once told Objectif Cinéma.

In the cinema, it was directed by famous directors, such as Christian Jacques, Andre Chiatti or Philippe de Broca.

Later, behind the symbolic JR, Dominique Patorrell, who is not related to singer and actress Sabine Patorrell, doubled the figure for a hundred. It was, for example, the French voice actors Michael Caine, Terence Hill, Robert Duvall, Frank Sinatra or Vittorio Gassman.
