Harris after meeting with Netanyahu: We will not remain silent

According to herself, Kamala Harris had a “constructive and honest” conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.

She condemned Hamas's brutality, but also described the images of dead children and desperate people as devastating.

“We cannot turn a blind eye when it comes to these tragedies. We cannot allow ourselves to be indifferent to the suffering and I will not remain silent,” Harris said, according to AFP.

Biden's repeated message

Earlier Thursday, Joe Biden met with Netanyahu, according to the White House, and the president discussed the need to finalize a ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

A message repeated by Kamala Harris.

– Harris says: There has been a hopeful development in the talks to reach an agreement.

The messages about the importance of reaching an agreement were conspicuous by their absence when Netanyahu, during his speech to the US Congress, promised “complete victory” over Hamas, which drew heavy criticism.

There is interest in getting closer to Trump.

On Friday, Netanyahu will meet with Donald Trump at the former president's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

Relations between them became tense after Netanyahu was among the first world leaders to congratulate Biden on his victory in the presidential election, while Trump claimed victory.

However, it may be in Netanyahu's interest to strengthen ties with Trump if it leads to support for Israel's terms for a cease-fire with Hamas, the Associated Press reported.
