Hurkac and Pavic win the final in Stuttgart! The match was very tight

Hubert Hurkacz Unfortunately, he bid farewell to Stuttgart’s single a few days ago after failing to beat Hungary’s Marton Vosovic in the 1/8 finals of the German championship. The doubles match was much happier for him – together with his companion, Mate Pavic from Croatia, he reached the finals of the competition in great style and won the final victory in this competition.

And Hurkacz and Pavic’s opponent German-New Zealand duo Tim Poetz – Michael Venus. It is not easy, because they are very experienced opponents.

The match started shortly after 12.00 – unfortunately it started better for competitors Hurkacz and Pavic, who added the first gem to their account. The Poles and Croats won only one point, and then gave the lead to their opponents.

Fortunately, the answer came quickly, because in the second match it was the Pole and his companion who did not give up a single ball and drew in the match 1: 1.

From that moment on, the competition began to take more and more cheeks, because after a short, longer fight, Puetz and Venus again took the lead, but the Wrocław player and his partner from the field did not allow their opponents to jump – after while there was a tie again (2:2).

The duel in Stuttgart seemed violent over time. While the fifth gem was flawless by the Germans and New Zealanders, the sixth edition of the first set left the pair with only one point in the reckoning – Puetz and Venus first scored 15:0, then easily lost. Thus, we reached a 3:3 score in the matches and it was clear that both sides wanted to put tough conditions on their opponents until the end.

After a moment, there was one of the long battles for points in this group – unfortunately it was much happier for Hurkacz’s opponents, but the response came again quickly – the Pole and the Croat again played a small game without losing a single ball – it was 4: 4.

The following longer matches again brought a small victory for both sides – Puetz and Venus put the competition first on 5:4 and were on the verge of closing the first part of the game, but again failed to cope with the task of increasing advantages. 5:5 – The ball was still in play.

Everything was on its way to the tiebreak – and it did. Only during this did the first breakthrough in the match between Hurkacz and Pavic. The Polish-Croatian duo scored two consecutive points, which allowed him to build a safe advantage step by step, which he did not concede until the end.

The tiebreak is over 7-3 for the pole and his partner, so they can enjoy winning the first set!

The second edition of the tennis duel this time started better for the native of Wroclaw and his friend – they added the first game to their account. Putz and Venus responded quickly in the next mini-game, but – as it seemed – this time they were supposed to chase their opponents, as Hurkacz and Pavic regained the lead.

Unfortunately, the opportunity to jump from the opponents to the Polish and the Croatian was missed after the Germans and New Zealanders scored 2:2 without losing a point. Interestingly, right after that … Hubert Hurkacz and Ante Pavić did not allow their rivals to win with a single ball.

And this situation was repeated all the time – if one of them scored the first point, the initiative remained with her until the end of a small skirmish. After seven matches, the scoreboard showed a score of 3:4 for Hurkacz and Pavic.

Then one of the longest “point by point” duels of this final took place, and although the Polish tennis player and his companion had two stopping points, they did not use any of them – what is more, Puetz and Venus again equalized.

After a while – and after two quick successive ‘scores’ from both teams – we actually got 5:5 and again in Stuttgart it smelled like a tiebreaker – that decision was actually made after a while.

Although both spouses were already very tired, the rivalry was incredibly fierce until the end. We have to commend Puetz and Venus, who were able to defend themselves off a couple of matches – thankfully, Hurkacz and Pavi won the tiebreak 7-5.

Thus, the Polish and the Croatian won the men’s doubles match in Stuttgart after an incredibly exciting duel!
