Cyclone Freddy, which hit Malawi last week, has forced half a million people to leave their homes, according to the United Nations.
In six days, as much rain fell as the country usually does in six months. Landslides and floods destroyed homes, roads and bridges.
More than 500 people have been confirmed dead, 1,300 injured and 427 are still missing in the impoverished South African country.
Search and rescue operations are underway, and 500 evacuation centers have been opened. According to the United Nations, emergency aid such as shelter, food and water is urgently needed.
Freddy also forced 160,000 people to flee in Madagascar and Mozambique.
