New DDR5 RAM Overclocking Record - Great Result

New DDR5 RAM Overclocking Record – Great Result

DDR5 memories are already impressive with their performance in virtual clocks – faster units can achieve clock speeds of over 6000MHz. It turns out that this is not the end of the possibilities of the new units.

A Taiwanese overclocker with the alias lupin_no_musume has proven that by using unconventional cooling, it is possible to obtain a much better result. However, you need a little luck, skill and, of course, good equipment.

New record for DDR5 RAM overclocking

Overclocker used the latest Intel platform – the test configuration included a Core i9-12900K processor, ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Apex motherboard, and one G.Skill Trident Z5 memory module.

After cooling the processor and memory with liquid nitrogen, the overclocker was able to force the unit to run at an effective clock speed of 8888MHz (with 88-88-88-88-127 delays). You can watch a video below to try to overclock the device.

The result is categorized as a new world record for overclocking DDR5 memory (previous score was 8704MHz). However, it should be noted that here it was necessary to use an oscilloscope, which confirmed the obtained frequency (due to frequent frauds, such equipment is required to check the result).

At home, with the use of normal cooling, it is currently useless to obtain a similar frequency and the result should be treated as a curiosity. However, the technology is still under development. It is likely that at some time such timing will be introduced by mass-produced units.
