PGE Energia Ciepła will build a gas-fired boiler in Bydgoszcz

PGE Energia Ciepła will build a gas-fired boiler in Bydgoszcz

PGE Energia Ciepła has signed a contract with Energotechnika-Energorozruch for the construction of a gas boiler room at the Bydgoszcz I CHP plant located on Żeglarska Street. It will be commissioned early 2022/2023 – according to information provided by PGE Energia Ciepła.

The contract signed relates to the design and construction of a gas-fired water heating plant with a capacity of up to 20 MW, with an option to expand by another 20 MW. The investment will be carried out at one of the two sites of the Bydgoszcz branch of PGE Energia Ciepła, namely Bydgoszcz I Heat and Power Plant.

The thermal power of the gas boiler will consist of a group of four water gas boilers with a capacity of at least 9.5 MW each. The investment will result in a fourfold reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions and a twofold reduction in carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere, the elimination of dust emissions and the elimination of sulfur dioxide emissions.

– We abandon the use of coal in one of our units, which is located in Jachcice in Bydgoszcz. This will positively affect the environment, ensure the security of heat supply and create conditions for the future supply of new heat receivers from Bydgoszcz, says Sebastian Wasilowski, Director of the PGE Energia Ciepła Heat and Power Station in Bydgoszcz, citing the announcement.

In the future, gas will also be in the second position

– In the coming years, the construction of a new gas-fired cogeneration unit to replace two existing OP-230 coal boilers at our second site, namely the Bydgoszcz II CHP plant on Energetyczna Street in Bydgoszcz – said Sebastian Wasselewski.

– The contract just signed with PGE Energia Ciepła for the construction of the 4×9.5 MWt gas boiler plant at PGE EC, Elektrociepłownia in Bydgoszcz, fits directly into the company’s business profile. Energotechnika-Energorozruch, as the general contractor, will be responsible for creating new heat sources for one of the two generating units in Bydgoszcz, thus supporting the transformation trend of Poland’s energy economy – said Witold Kaczmarek, Chairman of the Board of Energotechnika-Energorozruch, quoted in the announcement.

Under the concluded contract, Energotechnika-Energorozruch, as a general contractor, in addition to preparing the project and building a gas boiler room, will also be responsible for its operation.
