In November 2021, 76-year-old American Alex Chronis was on a business trip in Erlanger, Kentucky. During the trip, Chronis stayed at the Econo Lodge, where he was supposed to take a shower.

Cronis collapsed in the shower and was pulled out by two coworkers who heard him screaming. He took over-the-counter medication to treat his injuries and went straight to a local food festival where he was selling food.
