Ukraine says its forces have withdrawn from parts of the strategically important town of Khasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that the country's forces had taken control of an area in Tjasiv Yar, close to the Bakhmut region that was previously hotly contested.

A Ukrainian military spokesman confirmed Ukraine's withdrawal on state television on Thursday.

He said that the command decided to withdraw to more protected and equipped positions.

According to Fedorov, Russia carried out 391 attacks on ten sites in Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

Russia claims to have annexed Zaporizhia – in violation of international law – but does not fully control the region.
