Rodez Aveyron goalkeeper Lionel Mbassi was the victim of racist comments from a Toulouse fan, during a match between the two Ligue 2 teams on Monday, December 13, Toulouse FC explained in a press release.

Toulouse Club, referring to club president Damien Comolli, addressed his “excuses” with the target player. “The club strongly condemns these actions and any form of discrimination. The identification of the person concerned is in progress, and the club will initiate all necessary legal procedures.”, concludes the press release issued by Toulouse Football Club.

As Rodez coach Laurent Perled responded after the match: “This stadium is great, with this crowd, it’s even more beautiful. The fans must remain in support, and they must be reminded that Mbassé went through Toulouse.” Lionel Mbasse actually wore the Violet jersey, from 2012 to 2015, before signing for Rhodes.
