Apple also released tvOS 15.1 to all users tonight. This update is available for the 4th, 5th, and 6th generation Apple TV. The update can be downloaded and installed immediately and brings an innovation that was supposed to be available in the fall.
SharePlay can now be used on Apple TV
With the update to tvOS 15.1, users can now also use the SharePlay functionality on Apple TV. This feature allows users to watch a movie or series together via Facetime. The feature was announced at WWDC 2021, but its introduction has been largely delayed.
A playback control is available for controlling media on Apple TV, and intelligent volume control ensures that conversation partners can be heard when they’re saying something.
In addition to tvOS 15.1, Apple also released macOS Monterey, iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1 and an update for the HomePod to all users this evening.
