SOLD FOR 14.4 MILLION EUROS: Leica prototype sold at auction
Wetzlar.At Leitz Photographyica’s auction in Wetzlar on Saturday, the Series 0 Leica was sold for 14.4 million euros, according to the organizer.

The 105 series Prototype Camera, consisting of only a few examples, is nearly 100 years old and is one of the world’s first 35mm cameras.
It was previously estimated at up to three million euros
The device, previously estimated at between two and three million euros, belonged to the inventor of the 35mm camera, Oskar Barnack. The most expensive camera to date was the 122nd Series 0, which was sold at the 32nd Leitz Photographyica auction in 2018 for 2.4 million euros.

The auction, which takes place twice a year, is the world’s largest auction of vintage cameras and optical devices.
