There is no doubt that Josef Zabordzky is one of the legends of Polish sports. It was he who won the first Olympic gold medal in shooting (in Mexico 1968), moreover, he defended this result four years later in Munich. His main competition was a 2×30-round rapid-fire pistol for the numbers, 25M. In total, he represented Poland 5 times at the Olympic Games.
Olympic medals aren’t the only successes in his career. In 1966, he won the silver medal at the World Championships in the crown competition. In addition, his achievements include successes in the European Championship and won the title of Polish champion 23 times.
Joseph Zabodzky was in contact with weapons every day. After graduating from the officer school in Wroclaw, he served in a regiment in Jubin. Shooting training in the sport began very late, at the age of 28. But this did not prevent him from achieving great success. After the end of his career, he was a shooting instructor and also worked as a taxi driver.
