With 37 seats out of 150, the Freedom Party, which is critical of Islam, becomes the largest in the House of Representatives. The red-green GL/PvdA comes in second place with 15.5% of the vote. The third largest party is the liberal-conservative VVD, with 15.1 percent.

You want to ban the Qur’an

The election result came as a surprise, according to SVT’s European correspondent, Ulrika Bergsten.

Geert Wilders has been out of politics for a long time, but has now become somewhat accepted following a statement by VVD leader Dylan Yeşilgoz that she might consider ruling with him – if she becomes prime minister.

He also toned down his exaggerated statements critical of immigration, says Ulrika Bergsten in Morgonstudion.

The Freedom Party is pushing for the issue of banning the Qur’an and all mosques in the Netherlands, but said a few days ago that this may not be the first priority.
