“State of Danger” reiterates the conspiracy theories surrounding the tragedy in Smolensk, which Eva Stankievich has been preaching for years. However, the biggest controversy was caused by the photos with Eva Cobax shown in the picture. According to the director, they were taken to the Russian morgue, where the then minister works with Russians to identify victims of the disaster, smiling and drinking coffee. The leaked photos immediately provoked the anger of government camp representatives and the right-wing media.
In 2010, Cobox was Minister of Health in the government of Donald Duskin. During the Smolensk tragedy, he went to Moscow to help identify and coordinate the bodies of the victims. He was the first to recognize the body of Maria Coxiaska. – When I look at the photos of the bodies of the victims, I noticed features like a presidential woman – he told Fakti in 2010. The distinctive shape of the hand, the varnish used by Maria Coxiuska and a wedding ring engraved with the name of the late President Leg Coxiewski.
Eva Cobox in 2010: I’m not ready for what I saw
The photos shown in the Eva Stankievich film came from this period. For many, the leaked photos may contradict what Eva Kobax said in 2010 after the tragedy and how she reported her activities in Moscow.
Kobax recalled that working on body identification was a very difficult experience for him. – Myself, even though I am a doctor and have seen many things in my life, I am not fully prepared for what I have seen there – he admitted from the parliamentary list at the end of April 2010 that this was the first and last report on the matter. He explained that he wanted to respect the feelings of the families of the victims.
A few weeks later, in an interview with TVN, Cobox returned to his work in Moscow. She admitted that she could not bear the tears when she identified the victims of the accident as close friends. – Every doctor is primarily a man, I am still a woman. As we walk with our hearts, I cried twice – at the end of May 2010 she admitted – it was undoubtedly the hardest time of my life – she insisted.
– This is about the people closest to me from my club. However, I tried to hide my tears and did not try to see the families of the deceased who saw it – said Cobox in an interview with TVN in May 2010. He also mentioned that I slept two hours a day to prepare everything. – Very hard picture when bodies are placed in coffins. The feeling that we can do nothing for the dead and that they will not ask us anything. – He said he was clearly agitated.
Charges were filed against Eva Cobox. “I have no problem with the word sorry”
The first allegations against right-wing politicians Eva Kobakov and her work in Moscow appeared in early 2012, some relatives of the victims of the Smolensk disaster and some media reported that the body of Anna Valentinovich was transformed into the remains of another victim (according to media reports, Theresa Valevskov-Bryzkovsky).
At the time, Eva Kobax explained that the task of Polish experts in Moscow was not to conduct autopsies or identify them, but to participate in the preparation of the body for identification. He argued that he had only sealed some coffins and that the bodies had been identified by family members.
– The first thing I said to families was that they should take their time and they should carry out these studies carefully – recalled Eva Cobox in 2012. – I have no problem saying sorry. I tried my best to do what I could – Kobe said at the time, referring to the corruption related to body transplantation.
The former health minister was also accused of lying that the ground at the crash site in Smolensk was “dug to a depth of one meter” in search of the remains of the victims. – It is true that I told the public that a meter was dug in the ground, and the remaining bags were brought in every day. Bags soaked with dirt and jet fuel. They are pieces of organs, they are the hands of the foot. When I asked where you were bringing it from, I replied because I was in Moscow, not in Smolensk, we were digging the ground and bringing back what they had dug – he explained in 2014.
Additional charges related to the activities of Eva Cobox came to light in 2018, when additional cases of relocation of remains in buried coffins emerged after the bodies of the victims of the Smolensk disaster were re-evacuated.
