In May 2021, Sony announced a partnership with the popular communication platform Discord. To strengthen the partnership, Sony has also acquired a minority stake in Discord.
Discord and PSN can be linked
The two companies have been working together ever since PlayStation Network with discord to assistant, making it easier for players to communicate with each other while playing together. Today we see the first fruits of this work and PlayStation Network users can now link their accounts to Discord. This allows users PlayStation activity and yours PSN ID appear in disagreement.
Of course, this is only the first step in the partnership between PlayStation and Discord. As Discord wrote in a blog post, they are “excited to continue the partnership with PlayStation.” However, there is no information yet about the Discord app on the Sony console.
There is already a similar integration for the Xbox One, but it is also limited so far. In its current form, the feature is probably only really useful for cross-platform titles. For example, you can see if any of your friends are playing a title like Destiny 2 on PlayStation console, then join their party on PC. Incidentally, Sony recently announced in a press release that it wants to buy Bungie, the studio behind Destiny.
You can find out exactly how you can link your PlayStation account to your Discord account on both Sony devices support page As well as in the aforementioned Share the discord blog. The dispute was also issued a Feature FAQ. You can use the new Discord integration on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and your web browser.
