The fire occurred on Wednesday night in the Krasnodar region.
According to the Russian governor Veniamin Kondratyev, combustion was supposed to start in an oil tank at the Avepsky oil refinery, after the fall of a drone, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
There were no reports of any injuries, and according to Kondratyev, the fire must be extinguished.
The refinery is located near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, which was attacked several times earlier in May, according to numerous media reports.
Several attacks during the night
The Russian city of Belgorod also suffered new attacks overnight, the Kiev Independent reported.
According to the newspaper, residential buildings were damaged by the bombing, and cars caught fire.
The suspected attacks come just a day after Ukraine was accused of using drones to attack Moscow.
During the course of Tuesday, the Russian capital was hit by up to eight drones. Two buildings sustained minor damage and two people suffered minor injuries, according to the city’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin.
At least one of the houses bombed was an apartment building.
Ukraine: “We watch and enjoy”
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but SVT foreign affairs correspondent Bert Sundström believes Ukraine is responsible.
– Perhaps you can see this as part of a directed easing of Ukraine’s vis-à-vis Russia before the big attack we think is coming soon. He tells them that this is a way to make the Russians insecure svt.
After Tuesday’s attack, Michalgo Podoljak, an adviser to President Zelensky, appeared on an independent Russian news program, “The Breakfast Show.” There he denied that Ukraine was directly involved, but at the same time said that they expected more attacks like this.
– Podoljak said in the program: – We watch, enjoy and expect more drone attacks like this, but of course we have nothing to do with this.
