Intel Tiger Lake processors have allowed the compact laptop segment to expand. However, this is not the end of the “blue” attack – the manufacturer has prepared two more efficient units, and they will soon be added to the new designs.
Tiger Lake-U (11th generation) processors are designed for compact laptops, where performance and functionality matter, but also lower electricity demand (and less heat generation).
The manufacturer focused on a modern design that allows for better performance and energy efficiency. The circuits are based on Willow Cove’s microarchitecture and feature integrated Xe LP generation graphics. A modern 10nm SuperFin lithography process was used to produce the foil.
Intel introduces new Tiger Lake processors for compact laptops
During the September premiere, we were introduced to practically the entire range of new models. It seems that the display was not enough, since the manufacturer has presented two more units: Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7.
Form | Cores / Strings |

12 MB | Iris Xe (96 EU) | 12-28 watts |
Intel Core i7-1185G7 | 4/8 | 3.0 / 4,8 GHz | DDR4-3200 LPDDR4x-4266 |
12 MB | Iris Xe (96 EU) | 12-28 watts |
Intel Core i7-1165G7 | 4/8 | 2,8 / 4,7 GHz | DDR4-3200 LPDDR4x-4266 |

8 MB | Iris Xe (80 EU) | 12-28 watts |
Intel Core i5-1135G7 | 4/8 | 2,4 / 4,2 GHz | DDR4-3200 LPDDR4x-4266 |
8 MB | Iris Xe (80 EU) | 12-28 watts |
Intel Core i3-1125G4 | 4/8 | 2,0 / 3,7 GHz | DDR4-3200 LPDDR4x-3733 |
8 MB | Intel UHD (48 EU) | 12-28 watts |
Intel Core i3-1115G4 | 2/4 | 3.0 / 4,1 GHz | DDR4-3200 LPDDR4x-3733 |
6 MB | Intel UHD (48 EU) | 12-28 watts |
The new units offer similar features to previous models. The main difference is due to the higher clock speed in Turbo Boost mode, which should translate into better performance (the manufacturer boasts that the Intel Core i7-1195G7 in the popular Valheim games is 2.7 times more efficient than the competing AMD Ryzen 7 5800U model.).
The biggest difference can be seen in the creative work. Thanks to improvements introduced by software developers (ISV – Independent Software Vendors), the new processors are supposed to be 2 times more efficient at editing video and 8 times more efficient during transcoding (mainly due to the use of an AI acceleration engine).
When will laptops with the new 11th generation Intel Core processors arrive?
Here’s some good news. According to the information provided to us, the first laptops with Intel Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7 processors will appear this summer (they will be designs by Acer, ASUS, Lenovo and MSI). During the holiday season, we can expect over 60 different constructions.
The manufacturer also attaches great importance to the Intel EVO standard. To date, more than 85 designs from the leading brands have been launched, and by the end of the year this number is expected to increase to over 100 different designs (more than 15 OEMs have joined the program).
