Emmanuel Macron, who was in Chad at the time of the assassination, wrote on Twitter that France would never submit to “Islamic terrorism.” The country has been subjected to several extremist acts in recent years.
On Saturday, Macron visited the victim’s family.
On Friday, a 49-year-old woman working in the administration was killed at the entrance to her workplace at a police station in Rambouillet, outside the French capital, Paris.
The incident is being investigated as a terrorist offense, according to prosecutors, who are indicating what statements the perpetrator must have made in connection with the attack.
The perpetrator was shot dead at the crime scene. The 36-year-old Tunisian was previously unknown to the police or intelligence services.
Once again, the republic was attacked. Once again, the French state was under threat. We will not let this happen, Prime Minister Jean Castex said at a press conference.
Then a crisis meeting took place with a number of other ministers in Paris.
After the attack, three people were taken for questioning. Another person was arrested on Saturday. Several home inspections were carried out.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanen said that security at the country’s police stations would be strengthened.
