Many dead in a winter storm in the United States

Many dead in a winter storm in the United States

The storm devastated large parts of the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. In the most recent state, three deaths were confirmed as a result of the storm. A boy and his mother were found dead hundreds of yards from their home in Keithville, just south of Shreveport. The boy’s father reported them missing from home.

– We couldn’t even find the house he described by the address. It’s all gone, Sheriff Steve Praetor told KSLA-TV.

In many Louisiana cities, power lines were pulled down and homes collapsed.

Power outages and hurricanes

Tornadoes occurred, mainly in Louisiana and Texas, resulting in flight cancellations and many people injured. How much exactly is not clear.

But the severe storm affected not only the southern United States. Power outages have also been reported in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In Wisconsin alone, 60,000 people lost power on Thursday afternoon.

It’s still stormy on Friday

The storm is expected to continue through Friday and hit several states in the east. According to meteorologists, it mostly has to do with snowfall and freezing rain.

– This is great because it will affect areas from California to the northeastern parts of the country, meteorologist Frank Pereira tells CBS.
