Over the past few years, Microsoft has acquired a large number of studios now grouped under the Xbox Game Studios brand, from studios such as Obsidian Entertainment, Ninja Theory and Playground Games, to giants such as Bethesda (ZeniMax) and Activision Blizzard. with this Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, who indicated that they’re looking to get a steady stream of great games.
As technology advances, games are taking longer and longer to develop, so the studio can now spend four or five years working on a title, which can sometimes make waiting for a new game a long time.
In conversation with a podcast XboxEraPhil Spencer pointed out that “We have a lot of great games in development… we want to get to a point where there is a constant flow of great games coming up, and that our users can expect.”
He added: “We don’t have a big game this quarter, so Matt Botti and the teams and the ZeniMax teams … they want to get to the point where they really are. Let’s go on a great ascent to our platform and games that people can get excited about on a regular basis.”
It should be noted that despite the large number of studios, and with several attractive titles on the way, many of them still do not have a specific release date, and as far as 2022 is concerned, games like Redfall are expected, as well as Starfield.
