The new Pokémon Unite video game, set in the Pokémon universe, will be available for the Nintendo Switch hybrid console from next July 21 and for mobile phones in September, in the form of five-on-five team battles.
Pokémon Unite was revealed last summer, and was developed by the Pokémon Company with Chinese studio Tencent Games, through its division TiMi Studios. It was announced that it will be available on Android and iOS devices and the Switch console and will have cross-play.
Initially, Pokémon Unite will debut on the Nintendo Switch family of consoles, which will be available starting July 21, the Pokémon Company said in a statement.
Pokémon Unite is the first team combat game in the Pokémon series. Players will face each other in matches of five to five and during these encounters they will have to cooperate with their teammates to defeat wild Pokémon and level up their Pokémon and Evolution.
The goal will be to defeat your opponents while trying to score more points than the opposing team in the allotted time. Pokémon Unite will be a free download game with optional paid items.
The mobile version of Pokémon Unite will arrive next September, along with versions in French, Italian, Spanish and German for both platforms.
Trainers who download the game to their Nintendo Switch and log in before August 31 of this year will receive a Zeraora Unite license, with which they can add this Pokémon to their squads with attacks like Unite Move and Plasma Gale (Withering Thunder).
