On Monday evening, Vladimir Putin announced that he would recognize the independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic. As you can guess, after the Russian president’s speech, domestic and world politicians began to comment on these events, and the positions of individual countries on the Kremlin’s actions were sprinkled.
Among those who responded to Putin’s action on Donbass were others, including Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, NATO President Jens Stoltenberg or EU leaders. The head of the Lithuanian government Ingrida Šimonytė wrote on Twitter:
“Putin has just embarrassed Kafka and Arville. What we see today may seem very realistic to the democratic world. But the way we respond will define us for future generations.
Andrzej Duda is quiet after Putin’s end. On the other hand, the President’s President tweets about the 200th anniversary of Romanticism
However, President Andrzej Duda was not one of the respondents to the events in Moscow (not only in Ukraine, but in the current context). The head of state has at times been contacted on social media from personal accounts such as Twitter, but until then on 22.20 February 21, the latest entry was a tweet from February 16. Duda assured the Ukrainian president of Polish support.
On the other hand, the official account of the President, kept by the Chancellor of the Presidency, contained new content, but it involved … the 200th anniversary of Romanticism in Poland. What’s more, information about this appeared on Twitter several minutes before 9pm, basically at the same time as the world media reported on Putin’s decision on Donbass.
Twitter
“2022 is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Romanticism in Poland. First Lady spoke to Tomas Djokovic, director of the National Library, about the products of cultural institutions and schools and the 11th edition of National Reading for the Year of Romanticism. – This is the content of that tweet.
The President’s position is not available on the Chancellor’s website (until 22.20).
