Volvo Goes On Its Own – Announces Polestar 3 Electric SUV

Polestar became an independent brand in 2017. Since then, the Polestar 1 (600 hp plug-in hybrid) and Polestar 2 (a slightly elevated electric sedan) have been introduced. We have written about both models in the following articles:

It is now time for the debut of the next model. The consistency of the brand in coming up with names is undeniable, because the next model got the title … Polestar 3. It is a recently fashionable blend of sport utility vehicles with an electric motor. So far, the brand showed only the outlines of the car – a model covered with a cloth. However, already in such an image you can see the look and design idea. We have an aerodynamic bodywork, a long, flat front, a slightly sloping roofline and huge creases on the rear fenders.

Brand representatives say that the Polestar 3 will be a direct competitor to the Tesla Model X. However, when we look at the cloth-covered car, we notice a small distance from the side mirror to the rear wheel arch. Small dimensions may indicate that the Polestar 3 will be a two-door car, or a smaller tailgate will open “against the wind”.

Production in the United States

Polestar models are manufactured in China, but the Polestar 3 will be manufactured in the United States in Ridgeville. The new Volvo XC90 will also be assembled at this plant. The United States is set to be one of the main markets for the Polestar 3, so moving production there is expected to significantly reduce cost. Production of this model will begin in about a year.
