The number of air operations in Poland in August of this year was higher than it was a year ago, but there are still fewer than before the pandemic, according to data from the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA).
According to Pansa, the average monthly number of daily flight operations in August this year. For the first time since the beginning of 2021, it exceeded 1.8 thousand and flights increased to almost 1.9 thousand. In 2019, there were 2.97 thousand operations, and in 2020 – 1.25 thousand.
– For the first time since the beginning of this year, the number was exceeded 1.7 thousand per day in August. air operations. The busiest days in the previous month were those days when the 2000 mark was crossed. Operations: August 8, August 29, August 22, August 6 and August 15 – Bansa is informed.
PANSA data show that the number of take-offs and landings at all Polish airports in August of this year amounted to 31.5 thousand. In August 2019, there were almost 42.9 thousand such operations, which means that this year there were 27 percent. less. However, compared to 2020, there were 39 percent more.
In Warsaw, the largest Polish airport, in August of this year there were 11.6 thousand. take off and landing. It’s about 36 percent. Less than in 2019, but at the same time by 38 percent. More than 2020.
The only airport that recorded an increase in the number of air operations in August of this year compared to August 2019 was the airport in Katowice. The number of take-offs and landings there increased by 8%. up to 4.9 thousand. At the same time, the largest increase was recorded there compared to the previous year – 97%.
Pansa also reported that the airlines with the largest share of the number of flights in Polish airspace in August 2021 are: Polish LOT – 13 percent, Ryanair – 12 percent, Wizz Air – 9 percent, Lufthansa – 4 percent . And Turkish Airlines – 4 per cent
