An SD party member sang far-right slogans at a polling station

Gigi D'Agostino's Eurodisco song “L'amour toujours” from 1999 spread in far-right circles last year. Not least in Germany, where slogans such as “Deutschland den deutschen” and “Ausländer raus” (“Germany for the Germans” and “Foreigners out”) are chanted to the famous tune.

Last night, the song was played on EU election monitoring channel SD at the same time as Expressen interviewed party leader Richard Gomshof.

Suddenly, Member of Parliament David Lange jumped up and sang the German text.

– Aliens out! Aliens are out!

Then Lange saw an Expressen reporter:

– Oh shit, are you recording this?

According to Expressen, Lange must then have made a concrete attempt to take the recording equipment from the newspaper reporter.

According to Expressen, Richard Gomshof also urged Lange to leave the vigil.

Martin Kinnunen, a member of parliament and SD party board member, received questions about the clip when he visited SVT's Morning studio On Monday morning.

– I did not notice this myself during the vigil. It seems to be a case of a bit of poor judgement, but of course that's something we'll have to talk about with this member in the future.

When asked if there was a reason for Lange's resignation, Kinnunen replied:

– I see no reason at all to speculate in this way. The leadership of the group in Parliament will certainly reach out to this member and hear why things turned out the way they did and so on.

On Monday, the leader of the Swedish Democrats group in the Riksdag, Linda Lindberg, will have a private conversation with Riksdag member David Lange after the night's events.
