The 33-year-old Polish has 36 games with Augsburg on his account. He joined the club a year ago, when his previous contract with Union Berlin expired. Rafa Gikiewicz has received very good reviews for his performance.

In the previous season, the Polish had the largest number of interventions among all goalkeepers in the Bundesliga – there were as many as 129 of them, and his situation was expected to attract the interest of better teams, but Djekevich decided to stay in Augsburg.

Rafał Gikiewicz’s new contract is valid until June 30, 2023, but the club has guaranteed itself the possibility of extending it for another year.
