The leading player of the Hungarian national team, Dominic Zuboszlai, recognized as the best athlete of 2020 in this country, will not play in the European Championship. The player whose goal in the match against Iceland was promoted to the team and did not recover after a long break due to injury.
Only 20-year-old Szuboszlai moved from FC Salzburg to Leipzig in the winter, but has not played a game for the German runners-up.
And Reuters confirmed, on Tuesday, that the player, although he has already resumed training, has not recovered from a thigh muscle injury and will not participate in the tournament. Now he will focus on getting ready for the new season.
Great Hungarian football talent
Szoboszlai is known as the great future of Hungarian football. He had a great share in promoting the national team to the Euro. It was his stoppage-time goal that secured a 2-1 victory over Iceland in the final.
In the tournament, Hungary will play in Group F, which is considered the strongest – against Germany, France and Portugal.
However, in the ongoing qualification for the 2022 World Championships, Marco Rossi’s players are competing, among others poles. The national teams of both countries met in Budapest in March, then a 3-3 tie was scored.
