France’s Benjamin Davitt won Wednesday at the Paralympic Games in Beijing the cross-country event, in the standing category, with France’s fourth gold. The Annese native dominated the German Marco Mayer and the Ukrainian Grigory Vovchinsky.
It’s revenge for Benjamin Daviett, the French flag bearer at the opening ceremony, who the day before had failed a disappointing sixth place in middle-distance biathlon.
Disappointment for France’s Anthony Challinson of Morzine Avoriaz in the visually impaired category. He just finished off the podium in fourth place.
This isn’t the first Paralympic title for Benjamin Davitt, licensed at Club Handisport Annécien – Le Grand Bornand: in 2018, he won three golds and two silvers.
France now has six medals (including four golds), which puts it fourth in the country’s standings.
