Heavy fire at Oslo Airport

Several units of the Norwegian Rescue Service were called to Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport on Wednesday after reports of a major fire in the Norwegian state stockpile. Dagbladet.

A warehouse under construction caught fire. Burns badly in insulating materials and others. There was a strong development of smoke and the fire service reported a strong explosion at the site, Sven Wali, Operations Director, Eastern Police District, told NRK at 13:00.

Warning of dangerous smoke

We urge residents and businesses in the vicinity to keep windows and doors closed.

– We have fire control, but we will be doing demolition and post-extinguishing work for a while. It shouldn’t smoke as much now, but as much as it smokes, it’s still toxic, chief security officer Espen Stapel tells VG at 2 p.m.

No one should be injured by the fire and the smoke should not cause any problems to air traffic.

Extinguishing in progress

At 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, the fire brigade announced that a subsequent firefighting operation was underway at the site.

They will continue to do the firefighting work for the rest of the afternoon to ensure that the fire does not risk igniting again.

– Resources are constantly decreasing, the fire service reports according to Dagbladet.
