The derby between King and PGE Spójnia was played on Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Netto Arena in Szczecin. 4,120 people sat on the stands. This is the largest audience in the history of derby clashes for teams from Stargard and Szczecin. About 1,500 of this group consisted of Stargard fans.
There was fierce competition in the stands throughout yesterday’s match. The fans of both teams were noisy and cheered the culture and the idea. At one point, Spójnia fans started chanting “we’re playing at home”, to which King’s fans responded by shouting “Stargard Szczeciński”, recalling that this was the name of the city that Spójnia had represented for years.
There was also competition on the field, but it was not as fierce as the one in the stands. After the first quarter, King was fifteen points ahead. In the second quarter, Spójnia returned to the game, and in the third quarter the result was close to a tie. However, the Stargard team was not once able to take the lead or even lead to a draw. Spójnia was the only leader at the start of the match, when he was 2-0 up. In the second half, the Stargard team came close twice. In the fourth quarter, the hosts Spogni jumped again and the seventh derby ended after Stargard returned to the league with Chechen’s seventh victory. King defeated Sponia 93:81.
