Astronomer from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (USA) Daniel Wang put all the pieces together and created his work while in quarantine due to the pandemic. “What we see in the image is a violent or active ecosystem at the center of our galaxy,” explains Daniel Wang. The center of the Milky Way is made up of many black holes and billions of stars. The chart is based on 370 observations made over the past 20 years by the Chandra X-ray Observatory orbiting it, launched by the United States on July 23, 1999, and the MeerKAT radio telescope in South Africa.
