Secret documents from the Swedish Migration Agency were found in the roundabout

A number of copies of confidential documents belonging to the Swedish Migration Agency were found at a roundabout in the Gothenburg area.
The Swedish Migration Agency stated that it took the incident seriously and reported the incident to the police.

It was the individuals who found the documents and handed them over to the police.

– The personal circumstances surrounding our applicants are covered by confidentiality and the Swedish Migration Agency takes the incident very seriously and has therefore reported the incident to the police, says Christopher Skanmeier, Deputy Regional Director for the Väst.ä region, in a press release.

The Swedish Migration Agency states that the matter concerns documents “that were handed over in line with current regulations to a third party, and they then handled the documents carelessly.” According to the Swedish Migration Agency, there is currently no indication that the information was handled incorrectly by Swedish Migration Agency employees.

-Most things indicate that this is the case. But the police must explain what happened. These events are a few years old, but we are now looking at whether what happened could mean any harm to the people involved, says Christopher Scanmire.
