Paris (AFP) – The four Grand Slam tournaments decided to align their ways of wrapping up games in five sets, all leading into 2022 tie-breakers (10 points win by two points) at 6-6 in the deciding set, they announced on Wednesday.

“We also took into account the health of the players because we saw that during the Grand Slam period, which started on 13-11, 16-14, and the tournament is very much staked,” Mauresmo explained.
“The idea is also to give more satisfaction to the fans who love this crucial and lively moment at the end of the match. In terms of programming, it gives more visibility, especially for television, even if there are generally quite a few percentage matches that are affected.”
