1-0 vs Optik Rathenow: Energie Cottbus celebrated their first win of the season

In the Nordwest Regional League, Energy Cottbus won an in-work victory over Optic Ratheno at Friendship Arena.

After a poor start to the season, both teams were looking to turn around with just one point each from two games. Both teams acted bravely from the start. A short game with many upgraded finishes, but without any mandatory action on the target. Until the 19th minute, when Energy striker Max Kremer passed Rathnauer goalkeeper Lucas Heymann from 16 meters to make it 1-0.

In the second half, the host team of coach Klaus Dieter Wolitz developed a significant increase in chances, but he did not manage to make a decision. In the 50th minute, Tobias Eisenhout could make the initial decision: after the 30-meter sprint, only goalkeeper Hiemann was ahead of him, but his shot crossed the goal on the left. It was the first of many good chances in the second half that Energy Cottbus escaped. The nearly 4,000 spectators at Friendship Stadium had to shiver until the end, but in the end they were even happier with their first win of the season.

In the fourth round, Optik Rathenow takes on FC Eilenburg (Saturday, 1 p.m.). The next Energy Cottbus match will be on August 14 at home against VFB Auerbach (Round 5). The match against Carl Zeiss Jena has been postponed to September 22 due to the participation of DFB-Pokal from Jena against 1. FC Köln.
