Delta variable – they suffer the most

The delta variant is the most common of the coronavirus mutation at the moment. New data from England shows which groups are worst affected.

The delta type of coronavirus was first detected in India at the end of last year where it contributed to a second wave and killed thousands.

That the delta variable has been talked about has to do with three things. First, it is more contagious than previous variants of the virus. Second, the variant increases the risk that he will end up in the hospital and third, it appears to be more resistant to vaccines.

spreads faster

The World Health Organization warned last week that sharing is spreading the fastest of all the mutations discovered so far. The alternative also tends to affect the weakest in society, especially in places where vaccination has not yet begun.

However, the delta variant has dominated in England despite high vaccination rates. Therefore, the country has now been screened to see which groups appear to be most susceptible to the mutation.

most affected

Nearly 100,000 delta cases were analyzed from February to June. According to statistics, young people under the age of 50 have been infected to a greater degree than those over the age of 50. In addition, the majority have not been vaccinated. It is still the elderly who die mainly from the variable.

Furthermore, the data showed that a delta variant was detected in both the unvaccinated and those who received the vaccine. Only a few cases have been detected in fully vaccinated individuals, indicating that the vaccine appears to work to reduce the spread of infection even though it is not 100 percent effective.

More contagious than alpha

to me Data from Public Health England Two doses of Pfizer or AstraZeneca should provide “very safe” protection. However, the delta variant continues to dominate in England, and thus the mutation appears to be more contagious than the alpha variant. In addition, the data show that vaccines affect the delta variant worse than the alpha variant.

At the same time, PHE believes that full vaccination provides a high level of protection and thus encourages the population to get vaccinated.
