Elon Musk meets again with the Brandenburg government

The head of the electric car company Tesla, Elon Musk, visited Germany again and met with representatives of the state government of Brandenburg. “Very relaxing evening meeting,” Brandenburg Economy Minister Jörg Steinbach tweeted in German and English on a photo of Musk. Tesla is building a car factory in Grünheide, near Berlin, near the capital’s airport. The electronics vehicle group plans to build about 500,000 units of the Model 3 and Model Y compact there each year. Originally, the company wanted to start production in July. After a renewed public presentation of the plans, so far only 44 objections to the establishment of the plant have been received by the Brandenburg State Office of the Environment (LfU). Environment Minister Axel Vogel (The Greens) reported on Wednesday at the State Parliament’s Environment Committee. The deadline for submitting objections does not end until August 19. In the first interpretation of the documents last year, 373 objections were received and in the second interpretation 110.

After the deadline, the Lebanese Football Association will decide whether there will be another public hearing, the minister said. If necessary, the public hearing should take place on September 13 at City Hall in Erkner.

Vogel said a final decision on the plant’s environmental approval would not be expected due to ongoing procedures. In September 2020, it took several days to hear from critics of the project.
