A week after the match was postponed due to Covid, American Bressani greeted Stade Aurillacois as part of the 19th day of Pro D2. After an eventful evening, Fabrice Estebanez’s men won 17-13, a precious victory in their quest for preservation.
In the first half, the first big event was the Adinois, before the Cantaliens reacted before the half-hour mark. Without a clear test opportunity, on either side, it was 3-0 at the break thanks to a penalty kick from Mathis Viard (9) for Borg.
The Brissan fell on the first try
Marc Palmier responded early in the second half, scoring two penalties that gave Aurillac the lead (3-6, 58). But the first attempt of the evening was Bressan: Originally, a long kick by Pierre Berard, a beautiful run by Hugo Dupont for a 5m stretch, then finished by Quinn Bloemen (10-6, 62).
The advantage was short-lived for Borg, as Aurillacois-half-scrum Hugo Bouyssou put a long line ahead of Bressan in goal (10-13, 66).
In his first match since October 22, Tonga’s Malitua Hingano overcame Cantal’s defense in the race and went on to flatten the purple’s second attempt (17-13, 74), synonymous with redemption.
