Mike Pence abandons his bid to become president

Pence was Vice President during Donald Trump’s four years in office.

“After much prayer and thought, I have decided, effective today, to suspend my campaign to become president,” Pence said at a ceremony in Las Vegas on Saturday.

– We knew all along that this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets, he continues.

Save him

Pence had difficulty climbing public opinion and also getting enough contributions for his campaign. His decision to withdraw saves him further debt and the embarrassment of potentially failing to qualify for the third GOP primary debate, on November 8 in Miami.

He became the first of the more popular Republican candidates to surrender.

During his tenure as Vice President, Pence showed strong loyalty to Trump, but their cooperation ended in bitterness. Trump has placed much of the blame on Pence for his failed attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election — in which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden.

“With courtesy”

The whole matter escalated during the storming of the Capitol building in Washington in January 2021, when Pence was publicly exposed to Trump’s accusations.

Now, Pence has not publicly expressed his support for any of the remaining candidates, but rather repeated phrases similar to those he used to criticize Trump.

-I urge all my fellow party members to give our country a Republican standard-bearer who, as Lincoln said, will appeal to the better angels of our nature, and who will not only lead us to victory, but lead our nation with courtesy.
