Fifth-placed Hubert Hargas and Yugos Kubot lost to German pair John-Lenard Struff and Alexander Sverev 2: 6, 6: 7 (5-7) and were eliminated in the first round of the Olympic tennis tournament in Tokyo.
In the first set, the Germans broke the pass of the poles twice with the service of Yugos Kubot. Sverev and Struff returned well, but when Hurgas worked, he could not tell them a little. At 2: 5, the Polish team defended two sets, but the Germans had their way.
In the second game, both pairs maintained their service until the tie-break. In it, at 3: 3, Sverev and Struff hit a mini-break, shortly after which they had three match balls. Hargas sent two aces, but Kubota landed in the net in the third return match. The match lasted one hour and 31 minutes.
The Harkas singles tournament in Tokyo starts on Sunday and he will face Hungarian Morton Fusovic in the first round. Kubot Iga appears in a mixed game with Świątek.
