Today (April 4), Polregio begins construction of the new railcar repair hall. 60 people will find work there. The construction was opened by representatives of the state, local and local authorities.
The hall will house workshops, an elevated storeroom, social and office facilities, and a car wash. It will serve trains from Świętokrzyskie, Małopolskie and Podkarpackie counties as well as trains from other operators.
The implementation of the investment is in line with Polregio’s strategy of achieving a long-term competitive advantage by increasing cost efficiency in the maintenance and repair of modern railway vehicles. Thanks to this, the company will increase the potential for development both in the implementation of PSC contracts in the southeast of Poland and in commercial activities – says Artur Martyniuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polregio SA.
– We are working to increase the availability of public transport successively in Świętokrzyskie county. The revitalization of the railway from Końskie to ódź is just the beginning. In less than two years, the upgrade of the line to Kielce will be completed. Other railway investments include a renovated railway station, the underground passage, which will be ready next year, and crossing tracks along Piłsudskiego Street – says Andrzej Bętkowski, Świętokrzyskie County Marshal:
This is another multi-million dollar investment in Skarżysko. That also means 60 additional jobs that are worth their weight in gold these days. Mayor Konrad Kronig says:
This investment is a restoration of what Skarżysko has long predicted to be a pearl on Poland’s rail map. This is how we perceive what was taken from us at the beginning of the systemic changes – MP Krzysztof Liebeck said:
The entire investment costs approximately 40 million PLN. It is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.
A base for 27 Polregio electric buses will also be built in Skarżysko, which will transport passengers to railway stations. The money for the purchase of cars will come from the National Reconstruction Plan for the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The estimated cost of purchasing the buses is 132 million PLN.
