Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

In connection with the Nordic Summit held in Stockholm on 13-14 May, in which Germany also participated, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Chancellor Olaf Scholz signed a strategic innovation partnership for security and the digital and green transition.

Germany is our most important trading partner and an important strategic partner for Sweden in a number of fields. Against the background of the global situation, the rapid technological development and the need to accelerate the green and digital transformation, this strategic partnership with Germany is an important instrument for our business life and for Sweden as a whole, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Sweden and Germany entered into their first innovation partnership in 2017, which was renewed in 2019. The partnership focused, among other things, on research and production of batteries as well as cooperation on sustainable transport and artificial intelligence. Now cooperation will continue to develop, including in the areas of defense and space issues.

The in-depth partnership between Sweden and Germany was signed in connection with the visit of the heads of government to the Norskin Foundation, which supports young growth companies. In connection with the visit, the two leaders also held discussions and a joint press conference.
