(Boston) The New England Patriots ended Julian Edelman’s contract on Monday after the recipient failed his physical exams.
The move resulted in an abrupt end to his 11-season tenure with the team. He was particularly one of the favorite targets of Tom Brady in quarterback, achieving a historic hunt at 51e Super Bowl and was awarded the title of 53rd Most Valuable Playere Energy.
The 34-year-old Edelman also shared a video on his Twitter account announcing his retirement from football.
Edelman appeared in only six matches last season before making his way onto the injured list after undergoing knee surgery. The recipient also missed the entire 2017 season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Edelman will play the final season of a two-year contract worth US $ 15.5 million. He had to fight for a regular job with the Patriots, who recently signed up to wide receivers and free agents Kendrick Born and Nelson Agolore.
