Tramwaje Śląskie starts another investment in Zabrze. This time the track will be updated in Mikulczyce. It will be the twenty-sixth mission carried out by the company as part of the investment project.

10 bids were submitted for the tender, and the company selected the one submitted by NJN Damian Kłosek of Knurów. Her bid amounted to nearly 22.6 million PLN net. The contract was signed between Silesia Trams and the contractor on Friday 19 November.

As of today, the general contractor has exactly one year to carry out the works. This is the most realistic deadline that we hope will be met. Work will start practically immediately after signing the contract. President Bolesław Knapik confirms.

The contract was signed with the general contractor on Friday, November 19, and the track works have already started in Mikulczyce. It includes the reconstruction of the tram track in Zabrze from Mikulczyce Loop to ul. Mikulczycka with ul. Dygasiński, including episode. In total, the modernization concerns a tram line with a total length of about 3100 meters of one lane (mtp). As Andrzej Zowada, spokesperson for Tramwaje Śląskie points out, the majority of the reconstructed section is a single-track line, however, the exception being part of the Mikulczyce Loop, where a double-track is designed. Section 400 meters of the track at ul. Presistank.

– The reconstruction of the track will be carried out in this place as part of the construction of the transport center planned by the Zabrze City Council. At the design stage, documentation of both investments was coordinated with each other – Says Bolesław Knapik, Chairman of Tramwaje Śląskie SA.

From Saturday, November 20, until further notice, tram traffic to Mikulczyce will be suspended, and line No. 3 will be operated by two-way coaches, operating on the shortened route: Makoszowy Pętla – Zabrze Pole Ludwik. An alternative bus service will be launched by ZTM, marked T-3, operating on the following route: Zabrze pl. Teatralny – Mikulczyce Zwrotnicza.
