There will be no repeat of Stuttgart. Hurkacz left in one battle aura

Hubert Hurkacz started the season on grass with his victory in Stuttgart in the doubles. He will not repeat his success in the ATP 500 Championship in Halle. In doubles, he was eliminated with Sebastian Korda in the first round.

Hubert Hurkacz started competing on grass in the first week. Pole won in doubles with Mate Pavic the ATP 250 championship in Stuttgart. This was the first victory of a resident of Wroclaw on a grass field.

However, the 25-year-old has not left Germany. He moved from Stuttgart to Halle, where he will compete in the ATP 500 Championship in both singles and doubles. His first singles competitor will be Maxime Crissy.

In doubles, for the first time in his career, he created a pair with American Sebastian Korda. Their opponents in the first round were the Kazakh and Argentine duo Andrei Golubev and Maximo Gonzalez, who already performed together in Rome, reaching the semi-finals of the ATP Masters 1000.

Gołubiew and Gonzalez seem to be the favorites in this match, as they have already had the opportunity to perform together. Considering four meetings together, they can certainly boast a little more teamwork than the Poles and the Americans.

It was the Kazakh and Argentine duo who entered the match better and broke their opponent during the second service match. Hurkacz and Korda had the opportunity to equalise, but they missed the break point.

As a result, the competitors were ahead 4: 2, and after a moment they got a second break. Polish and American competitors on their website can finish the first version. The Hurkacz-Korda duo then shifted a higher gear, developing two break points. However, neither was used, so Golopio and Gonzalez led the match.

In the second set, the duo kept their passes without any major problems. Each pair worked on one break point, but none were used. The tiebreak decided the final score.

In it, Hurkacz and Korda left their rivals without illusions. Soon they got their first small breakthrough, and a few moments later the second. With their pass, they got a fixed ball, which they used in the next action.

So the tiebreak decided the fate of the meeting. A lot has happened in it since the beginning. Hurkacz and Korda advanced 2:1, but then the competitors started playing in ecstasy. Golobio and Gonzalez scored seven consecutive points and scored three small breakthroughs. They made a match ball with their passes.

The Polish-American duo did their best to get back into the match. Hurkacz and Korda defended four balls out of the match, but died the fifth time. Golobio and Gonzalez did not give up such a big advantage and finally won 6:2, 6:7 (2), 10-7.

Another competitor to Hurkacz and Korda is not yet known. It will be determined by the meeting of Evan Dodig and Austin Kragic with Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell.
