Sony has announced the release of MLB The Show 22 baseball game. As in the previous year, Xbox users will also be able to enjoy the game along with PlayStation players. Members of the Switch community are also joining for the first time.

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer San Diego Studio have announced MLB The Show 22. The title will be released on April 5, 2022 for PS5 and PS4. Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Switch consoles are also supported. The cover star of the new baseball simulation is Shohei Ohtani.

The standard edition of MLB The Show 22 will cost about $70 on new generation PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. It’s ten euros less for the latest PS4 and Xbox One consoles, as well as for the Switch. Xbox Series and Xbox One editions will also be available through Xbox Game Pass from day one, although it’s unknown how much money will go to the publisher.

Cross-Plattform-Play, Cross-Saves, Cross-Progression

For the second year in a row, MLB The Show is expanding to a new platform. This time it’s time for a switch, after first Xbox gamers turned around a year ago. MLB The Show 22 features include cross-platform play, cross save, and cross progression.

“Nintendo fans can now team up with Xbox and PlayStation fans to compete online through cross-platform play in MLB The Show 22. In addition, cross progression allows content to be purchased and consumed on any platform or generation,” the creators said. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S exclusive features such as Stadium Creator are excluded.

MLB The Show 22 aims to make it easy to switch from one platform to another while still keeping access to your entire card inventory. To do this, simply link your MLB The Show account to the console platforms.

Pre-order content and collector’s edition

Players who pre-order MLB The Show 22 from the PlayStation Store will receive a Gold Choice Pack for in-game use. There will also be a collectors’ edition, which will be revealed next Wednesday.
