The construction of a railway bridge over the district road No. 913 near Berzovice Airport has begun. The facility will improve communications at the new Pyrzowice Lotnisko station, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe announced Wednesday.
The construction of the bridge over the DW913 is part of an investment of 660 million PLN – the construction of a railway to Katowice Airport. This project is funded by European Union funds.
According to the press team of PKP PLK, the works will be carried out simultaneously with the works of the track on the line, stops and stops. There will be a road, sidewalk and bike path under the bridge; This will ensure that the trains pass freely and collision-free on the road. An important component of the investment is the Pyrzowice Lotnisko terminal near the port. Currently, platforms are being built there; Part of the underpass is ready, which will allow passengers to safely reach the trains.
“The most advanced works on the road are at the Berezovici airport – Siwers department. The track is being laid. New platforms can be seen at Siwers station and Merzits. A local control center is being built in Siwers, from which service officers will direct traffic along,” the PKK representatives said. the entire line.
There are also collision-free construction of junctions on railroads. Works include bridgeheads for rail bridges over the A1 motorway and at Mysticzko-Olski over District Road No. 908. Works on the ramp and on the railway bridge have been completed in Zawersee. Work has begun on the Zawersiya station on the new platform No. 3. The facility will be connected to the underpass currently in use, which connects the two sides of the city. Work is underway to replace the track bed and rebuild the tracks.
Due to the scope of work, traffic regulation changes. It will be possible to get to the airport via ul. Piłsudskiego, then a temporary road – an extension of ul. Zagrodova. The DW913 section of the airport will be temporarily closed. The bridge is scheduled to be constructed in September 2023. At that time, the Regional Roads Authority will build a new road in the closed section.
The investment value of the partially abandoned “Revitalization and reconstruction of railway No. 182 Tarnowskie Góry – Zawiercie” is 660 million PLN, of which the EU financing under the Infrastructure and Environment Program amounts to more than 500 million PLN. The works are scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023.
As part of the mission, a closed 30-kilometer section of the track between Tarnowskie Góry and Siewierz will be reconstructed. Activation and electricity will take care of about 48 kilometers of the railway line. Trains will travel to the airport at speeds of up to 140 km / h, and freight trains at up to 80 km / h. The investment includes 59 facilities and 38 railway crossings.
As PKP PLK points out, the result of the investment will be a new offer for train travel to Przewice Airport by Tarnowskie Góry and Zawiercie. The estimated travel time from Zawiercie to the airport is 23 minutes, and from Tarnowskie Góry – less than 20 minutes. For travelers from Katowice and Czestochova, the journey will take about an hour.
