After Currywurst-Aus: VW strikes a positive balance

News of the Currywurst-Aus in the canteen of the VW-branded high-rise in Wolfsburg exploded like a bombshell in last year’s summer doldrums. Since August, the canteen there has been serving only vegetarian and vegan food and the occasional fish only.

Former consultant Gerhard Schroeder (SPD) was horrified by the end of the “strength bar for production-skilled workers” at VW and sparked public debate about corporate meat consumption at the time. The former consultant launched the #RettetdieCurrywurst campaign.

Potthast reported that even without the curry, some food was sold out before closing time, nearly six months after the decision.
