Energa Group estimates that it generated PLN 659 million in EBITDA in the second quarter of 2021, compared to PLN 487 million last year, the company said in a press release.

According to estimates, the group’s net profit amounted to PLN 284 million compared to a loss of PLN 878 million last year.

The group estimates revenue at PLN 3.228 billion, compared to PLN 2.842 billion in the corresponding period of 2020, and EBIT at PLN 323 million (244 million PLN in the previous year).

Group capital expenditures amounted to PLN 600 million compared to PLN 484 million in the previous year.

Energa announced that the higher EBITDA result compared to the previous year came from all business lines. The largest increase – by 112 million PLN to 559 million PLN – was recorded by the distribution business line, which – in the opinion of the group – was caused by a higher distribution margin.

Higher – by PLN 16 million – EBITDA of the generation line business (PLN 45 million) was mainly due to higher revenue from the sale of electricity and higher revenue from system services.

EBITDA for the sales business line was PLN 67 million, an increase of PLN 49 million annually, which – as reported by Energa – was caused by a lower base effect and an overall improvement in the profitability of electricity sales to end users in 2021.

Electricity distribution increased to 5,761 GWh in the second quarter of 2021, from 4,974 GWh in the second quarter of 2020.

Total electricity production increased to 895 GWh from 624 GWh in the previous year.

Electricity retail sales rose to 4,398 GWh from 4,354 GWh in the second quarter of 2020.

For the entire first half of 2021, group revenues amounted to PLN 6.669 billion ( PLN 6.095 billion in the previous year), EBITDA 1.417 billion ( PLN 1.055 billion in the previous year), and PLN 807 million (63 million PLN in the first half of 2020), and a net profit of PLN 668 million (compared to a loss of PLN 767 million in the previous year). Capital spending rose to PLN 945 million from PLN 815 million in the first half of 2020.

At the beginning of July, Energa announced that it would release some provisions for the financing of Elektrownia Ostrołęka and estimated the impact on the company’s consolidated net result for the first half of 2021 at PLN 111 million.

Energa is scheduled to publish its first half of 2021 report on August 12. (PAP Biznes)
